Wheeee. Feeling playful on this holiday weekend. Maybe it’s because I had to work most of the day (alas, the tenure clock offers no days off, vacation has me behind on my self-imposed schedule) and felt robbed. I did leave at 3:30 though and went with dh and the kids to our fave park, which is oh so much more than a park - playground, bike path, pond for sailing, swimming, geese honking. It’s really lovely. Not that it matters much to Thing1, who would be happy playing in a landfill if there were swings and monkey bars, or to Thing 2 who just smiles and/or sucks his thumb pretty much regardless of location, but dh and I enjoyed it. Almost made me forget the chapter I’m writing. Ick, but there it is again! Go away, I said! This is my leisure time.
Anyway, I just added a couple more ideas to the play section. Hope you’ll check them out and let me know what ideas you have - I would love to hear more ideas that encourage physical play, especially. The only things we can ever seem to think of indoors are dancing/ipod dj and telling thing 1 to go get the dog “all fired up,” which essentially means chasing him around the house until his nails start skidding on the hardwood floors. They both like the game, but somehow I bet there are better ideas out there.
Also, if you are looking for ideas, check out the comments from wwwmama - they are great and available here! Thanks!
